NEW DELHI: Martina Navratilova joyfully shared on Twitter that she is now cancer-free.
The esteemed tennis Hall of Famer revealed the positive update on Monday, following a comprehensive day of tests at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
“Thank you to all the doctors, nurses, proton and radiation magicians etc- what a relief,” she wrote.
In January, at the age of 66, Navratilova bravely shared that she had received diagnoses of both throat cancer and breast cancer.
She wasted no time and promptly commenced treatment that same month. Back in 2010, she had previously faced a noninvasive form of breast cancer and underwent a lumpectomy.
During November, Navratilova had observed an enlarged lymph node in her neck, prompting a biopsy that confirmed the presence of early-stage throat cancer.
Despite her health challenges, Navratilova’s determination allowed her to resume her television work with the Tennis Channel in time for the Miami Open in March, as she felt well enough to continue contributing to the sport she loves.
