A tourist train offering travel experiences in South India has been introduced from Ahmedabad by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) .
Departing from Sabarmati railway station on June 24, the train will take tourists to prominent destinations like the Tirupati Balaji temple, Rameshwaram Temple, Ramanathaswamy temple, Meenakshi temple, Kanyakumari, Vivekananda Rock Memorial, and the beach. It will return on June 30.
Passengers have the convenience of booking their tickets and boarding the train from multiple stations including Sabarmati in Ahmedabad, Nadiad, Anand, Vadodara, Surat, Vapi, Kalyan, Pune, and Solapur.
Experts and stakeholders in the industry emphasise the need for clarity and differentiation between medical tourism and holistic wellness. While medical tourism, backed by corporate hospitals, has made significant strides in marketing itself globally, the holistic wellness sector requires more organisation and structure to facilitate the ease of obtaining medical visas and spreading knowledge about traditional sciences.
IRCTC officials have confirmed that the accommodation at the destinations will vary based on the class of travel. Passengers travelling in AC class will have accommodation in AC rooms, while sleeper class passengers will be provided with economy-class rooms.
