Shripad Naik in Goa to review G20 meeting preparations

Tourism Ministers from 13 nations would be attending the upcoming Tourism Working Group Meeting, to be held in Goa from June 19 to 22, 2023.

This information was shared by Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways and Tourism, Shripad Naik in a review meeting held in Delhi. The fourth G20 Tourism Working Group meeting and Tourism Ministerial Meeting in Goa is being organised by the Union Ministry of Tourism.

Besides the presence of other key officials, Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant, Union Minister of Tourism, Culture & DoNER, GK Reddy and Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways and Tourism, Shripad Naik will be addressing the G20 delegates and participating member countries.

“They will have the chance to experience the rich tourism offerings and vibrant Goan culture,” Naik added. The minister also highlighted the significance of each delegate serving as an ambassador for their respective countries.

Expressing his satisfaction with the arrangements made for these important gatherings, the minister said that both the meetings will provide an excellent opportunity to showcase Goan traditions and cultures to the world.

MoT to create ‘dashboard’ for best sustainable tourism practices among G20 countries

The dashboard aims to provide a comprehensive resource for understanding and advancing sustainable tourism practices of the various countries/ destinations. MoT will curate case studies and put them on the dashboard. The information will be regularly uploaded and made available for the next three years. It will be open to all stakeholders and G20 member countries.

As part of the itinerary, a special excursion to the Old Goa church and Mangueshi Temple has also been arranged for the G20 delegates. In conjunction with these events, the Ministry of Tourism will organise side events on cruise tourism and Global Tourism Plastics initiative, inviting speakers and experts for sessions and presentations.

MoT will also organise celebrations for the International Day of Yoga on June 21 at Durbar Hall, Rajbhavan, besides various cultural programs and art and craft bazaars showcasing the local products and culture of Goa. DIY activities at the Craft Bazaar have also been planned to have hands-on experience.
