While inter-religious marriages in India have been there for centuries, they still surprise people. And if it is a celebrity who gets married in an inter-faith marriage, the news makes the headlines. For instance, actress Sonakshi Sinha married Zaheer Iqbal earlier this year and it still makes the news. More recently, veteran actor Mukesh Khanna stirred up a controversy by commenting on Sonakshi and her parents since the actress got married to a Muslim. However, Sonakshi and her father Shatrughan Sinha both gave a response to him, ending the controversy. While Sonakshi politely asked Mukesh Khanna to not comment on her upbringing, her father Shatrughan said that his daughter doesn’t need anyone’s certificate to prove she is a Hindu.
