Food and beverage challenges are ruling the social media age. While they might look interesting on mobile screens, they are mostly dangerous and harmful for body and health. In a recent drinking challenge, a 21-year-old influencer died while drinking whiskey. Scroll down to read the details.
As per latest news report, a Thai social media influencer Thanakarn Kanthee, more popularly known online as “Bank Leicester”, died after he drank two bottles of whisky as part of a bet, for which he was offered 30,000 Thai baht (Rs 75,228) as a part of the challenge. The incident took place at a birthday party in Tha Mai district of Chanthaburi on December 25 where Mr Kanthee, who had intellectual disabilities, arrived around 11 pm.

As per a report in Bangkok Post, during the party, Kanthee was challenged to drink a 350ml bottle of Regency whiskey with a cash offer of 10,000 baht per bottle.
He accepted the challenger and drank two bottles in just 20 minutes. He soon became unconscious due to excessive alcohol consumption and was rushed to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
It has been reported that the police have arrested a man who hired Kanthee to take on the challenge.
The death of a young influencer has sparked debate on social media . In the aftermath, a social media post by Mr Kanthee has gone viral where he said he performed such outrageous challenges to earn money for his family.
“I am willing to be bullied and insulted to just get scraps of money from the rich people in order to provide for my family,” read the post.

Consequences
It is said that alcohol poisoning can lead to brain damage, aspiration pneumonia, cardiac arrest, and even death.
