As summer has begun and temperatures have soared across the country, having ventilated seats in your hatchback, sedan, MPV or SUV will prove to be an advantage in keeping cool. 10 years ago, this feature was quite rare in mass market segments, with buyers having to look at something around the Rs 30 lakh mark. Today, there are plenty of sub-four-metre hatchbacks and SUVs, and even an MPV available with ventilated seats, all below Rs 15 lakh. So, without further digression, here are the 10 most affordable cars on sale in India with ventilated seats.

10. Tata Curvv

Rs 14.87 lakh-19.20 lakh

The Tata Curvv is among the most affordable cars in India with ventilated seats, sporting the feature on the front seats from the higher-spec Accomplished S variant onwards. The Rs 14.87 lakh price tag also makes Tata’s rival to the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara and Honda Elevate is also the most affordable mid-size SUV with cooled seats. The coupe-SUV is available with 120hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol; 125hp, 1.2-litre direct-injection, turbo-petrol; and 118hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine options, all of which have 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch auto gearbox options.

9. Hyundai Verna

Rs 14.83 lakh-17.55 lakh

The only sedan on this list, the Hyundai Verna gets ventilated front seats only on the top-spec SX(O) trim. In range-topping Verna SX(O) form, the Honda City, Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia rival comes with 115hp, 1.5-litre petrol and 160hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine options. A 6-speed manual is standard on both, and while the 115hp petrol gets a CVT option, the 160hp turbo-petrol has a 7-speed dual-clutch auto option.

8. Kia Sonet

Rs 14.80 lakh-15.60 lakh

Kia’s first compact SUV for India gets cooled front seats only on the top-spec GTX+ and X-Line variants. These range-topping trims are only available with the 120hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and the 116hp, 1.5-litre diesel unit; 6-speed iMT and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission options are offered on the Kia Sonet petrol, while the diesel is only available with the GTX+ trim and the 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. The Sonet rivals the likes of the Mahindra XUV 3XO, Hyundai Venue, and the Tata Nexon.

7. Tata Nexon EV

Rs 14.79 lakh-16.99 lakh

The first electric vehicle on the list, the Tata Nexon EV now comes with two battery pack options – 30kWh (MR) with up to 275km of MIDC range, and 45kWh (45) with a range of up to 489km. The Nexon EV one-ups its rivals by offering ventilated seats from Rs 14.79 lakh onwards on the top-spec Empowered and Empowered + variants; the Mahindra XUV400 doesn’t have the feature, and MG’s Windsor offers it in top-spec Essence form, which costs Rs 16 lakh.

6. Skoda Kylaq

Rs 13.35 lakh-14.40 lakh

Skoda’s first compact SUV comes with ventilated front seats, but only on the top-spec Prestige variant. It is among the few compact SUVs to get this feature, outdoing the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Nissan’s Magnite and Renault’s Kiger, and the Maruti Brezza. The Skoda Kylaq is powered by a 115hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that comes with 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox options.

5. Maruti XL6

Rs 13.31 lakh-14.71 lakh

The only MPV to feature on this list and the most affordable MPV with ventilated seats, the Maruti Suzuki XL6 has it on the top-spec Alpha+ variant only. For reference, the Kia Carens is the only other MPV in this size bracket with cooled seats, but as it’s only offered on the range-topping Luxury Plus and X-Line trims, the Korean MPV with the feature costs north of Rs 19 lakh. The XL6 comes with a 103hp, 1.5-litre petrol engine that has 5-speed manual and 6-speed auto gearbox options.

4. Kia Syros

Rs 13.30 lakh-17.80 lakh

The Kia Syros is the most affordable car in India to offer front and rear seat ventilation, though the latter only cools a passenger’s thigh and buttocks, and not back. Ventilated front seats are on offer on the higher-spec HTX and HTX+, and the top-spec HTX+ (O) variants, while the ventilated rear bench, which also comes with a segment-first slide and recline function, is only available on the pricey range-topping Syros HTX+ (O) trim. The above-mentioned Sonet and Syros share the turbo-petrol and diesel engine options.

3. Tata Nexon

Rs 13.30 lakh-15.60 lakh

Ventilated front seats are only available with the top-spec Tata Nexon Fearless + PS trim. Interestingly, as the Nexon CNG is also offered in this trim, Tata’s compact SUV is the most affordable CNG-powered model with cooled seats. The Nexon is on offer with a 120hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, a 100hp, CNG-powered version of the three-cylinder turbocharged unit, and a 115hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine. In range topping form, the petrol gets 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch auto gearbox options, while the diesel gets 6-speed manual and AMT options.

2. Tata Punch EV

Rs 12.84 lakh-14.44 lakh

Tata smallest e-SUV, the Punch EV, gets ventilated seats in its range-topping Empowered + trim. The Citroen eC3 rival is can be equipped with either a 25kWh battery or a 35kWh pack, with respective MID ranges of 265km and 365km. Not only is the Tata Punch EV the most affordable SUV with cooled seats, but it’s also the cheapest EV on sale in India with the feature.

1. Tata Altroz Racer

Rs 11 lakh

The only hatchback on the most affordable cars with ventilated seats list, the top-spec Tata Altroz Racer R3 gets the feature, also making it the cheapest car on this list. Unlike the rest of the Altroz range, the Racer comes with a 120hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 6-speed manual gearbox only.
